However, keeping up the momentum is more than simply getting people in the same room.\n<\/p>\n<p>Board members must feel they are trusted enough to be honest and ask hard questions. This can only be accomplished when there is an atmosphere of transparency and openness. It is essential to create an environment that is conducive to board meetings and made as productive as possible.\n<\/p>\n<p>The agenda of the board must clearly state what directors need to accomplish in order to meet their goals. The agenda should be flexible enough to accommodate unexpected issues or the necessity to reorder items. In addition, the board should be given the opportunity to discuss new business items.\n<\/p>\n<p>When it comes <a href=\"https:\/\/boardroomcommunity.com\/\" >boardroomcommunity.com\/<\/a> to discussing new business, a good board chair should avoid presenting reports and instead focus on encouraging discussion among the entire group. This will not only help save time but it will help engender a positive atmosphere in which the board can ask tough questions of management.\n<\/p>\n<p>Parking lots could be added to the agenda to allow small, random topics but without distracting the important issues.
